What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I love romances and thrillers so I decided to write a book that incorporates both. I wanted to create a story that would keep the reader is suspense while feeling the thrill of new love.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Over the years, I have known several women who have been in physically abusive relationships. This book and its characters are inspired by them and their bravery. Unfortunately, it is also inspired by the cruelty of the men they've loved.

“Now let’s talk about you coming back to Jersey. I don’t want you to worry about me holding a grudge over you leaving me, because I don’t. I know I wasn’t always the best boyfriend, but it’s only because I love you so much. I get too jealous when it comes to you. Just another man looking at you drives me mad, but I’ll do better. I promise.”
He reached out and rubbed my upper arm before grabbing it to pull me close to him. I’d heard his promises many times before and he’d broken every last one. I was tired of being beaten up because of his paranoia over me cheating.
I searched for Alex in the crowd and was relieved to see him making his way to us holding a tumbler glass filled with the clear liquid that might just save my life tonight.
“I guess I could,” I said. “But I’d have to give my two weeks’ notice.”
I was telling him whatever he wanted to hear so he’d keep calm. With any luck, he’d forget this entire conversation by the morning. Whether he’d remember or not, I’d still have to quit my job since he knew where to find me now. While I hated the idea of not working with Alex anymore, I liked the prospect of a new job where I wouldn’t have to deal with drunken men’s wandering hands.
“Two weeks?” Charlie said, his voice raised. “I don’t know if I can wait that long to have you near me again. How about you tell your boss you quit right now.”
I grabbed the drink from Alex and quickly handed it to Charlie. He removed his hand from my arm, allowing it to make its way down my back instead. I needed a distraction before it reached the waistband of the short black skirt that made up the lower half of my work uniform.
Charlie quickly downed the sizable drink, keeping his hand on the small of my back the entire time.
“If you want, I can tell him. I have a way of dealing with difficult people,” he said.
He certainly did and it usually involved punching them.
