What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I was helping my daughter in law move in and prepare her class for the arrival of her second graders first day. It was at that time I was compelled to do my very best to help children, parents and teachers enter a mindful state of readiness, capturing all the different events and occasions that take place, so they can overcome nervousness with excitement. This is a reality that even I remember as a child, so I did my best to create joyful experiences on that special first day.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters are a diverse group of children, playing and interacting together. It was important to create illustrations that were inclusive of the children learning, playing and experiencing that very special day together.
